A year ago this month, the X-Files world went wild when a website paraphrased Gillian Anderson while she was on a publicity tour in Croatia. At that time, the Croatian website wrote that Gillian Anderson said the movie was in early production and would be ready by 2012. Alas, this story was debunked once video of her interview was aired and people heard for themselves what Anderson actually said. What Anderson actually said was, “I don’t know whether that’s going to happen or not, but there isn’t any reason not to do it. It was fun, it was hard work. I feel a certain commitment to that group of people that I worked with and we still enjoy doing it, when we do it. There is no reason why not to come together and do it again. If they can pull it off, we’ll find some reason to make it.”
So where are we now?
This summer hopes were raised for X-Files 3 when Chris Carter and David Duchovny were spotted together at the beach and at a ballgame. While at the ballgame in July, a fan reported that Chris Carter knocked on his head like he was knocking on wood when asked if X-Files 3 would be made.
While touring to promote his film, The Joneses, David Duchovny always seemed to work the interviews around to a potential X-Files 3 movie and made it clear that he wanted to continue the X-Files franchise. During an interview featured on MTV, Duchovny said, “As far as the X-Files movie I’d like to do next, if we get a chance to do it, would be a return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy. I think it’s natural for The X-Files to have another movie in 2012, so we’ll see if we get to do it.”
Fox Chairman Tom Rothman said, “It’s really up to Chris, David, and Gillian.” They definitely seem willing.
Chris Carter once said that if I Want to Believe was successful, then he would suggest a third movie that would focus on the alien invasion. To date, I Want to Believe has grossed over $68 million dollars and cost a mere $30 million to make. In 2009, Carter indicated the movie was a “theoretical possibility” based on the international box office gross.
What does all this mean? It means I Want My XFiles 3!
David Duchovny will reunite with Amanda Peet in “Break of Noon,” the theater production Neil LaBute. The two previously starred together in The X-Files I Want to Believe. Duchovny portrays a man who sees God during an office shooting. Peet will play two roles, Duchovny’s wife (Ginger) and the role of the wife’s cousin (Jesse).
MMC Theater is producing the play, scheduled to start previews on October 28, will open on November 15. It is scheduled to run through December 12 at the Lucille Lortel Theater. Jo Bonney is the director. Christmas holidays in New York City complete with seeing David Duchovny. Sounds wonderful.
Coming in at #50 on the Entertainment Weekly list of ”50 Biggest Emmy Nomination Snubs is The X-Files own William B. Davis for his role as CSM / CGB Spender. It is hard to understand how such a perfectly portrayed villain could have been ignored for the award. The Cigarette Smoking Man was a multi-faceted, creepy, menacing (but I won’t say lovable) character who was vitally important to the mythology of the series.

Do you like watching NFL Football? If so, then fantasy football is the game for you!
I’ve started a league on CBS Sportsline. It is free to play. The draft is September 4 and is an automated draft.
If you are new to fantasy football, here are the basic rules. The draft allows you to “draft” players who actually play in the NFL. Each week, you will select the players that you want to play in your matchup against another team owner. You earn points for how well the real NFL Player performs.
If memory serves me correctly, you will play a quarterback, 2 running backs, 2 receivers, 1 tight end, 1 kicker, and 1 defense each week.
Je Souhaite and I played in a league last year and we made it to the Super Bowl (the final game to determine who wins the league championship). JX won it all unfor…I mean…congrats to JX for winning!
So, click the link to go to the forum for more information. The link to join is posted there. If you already have a membership at CBS Sportsline, then join our league “XFiles Universe” or if not then fill out the registration, and JX & I can help you figure out the rest.

Crossover videos are becoming more common in the X-Files World. Here is one created by yutin0107 that features some footage that I rarely see in fanvids along with some FTF and merges it with Inception. Enjoy!
Gillian Anderson is set to play a Victorian prostitute in a new BBC2 drama. Shooting will begin later in August.
She will portray Sugar, a “working girl” who manages to escape life in a brothel through the help of a wealthy man (played by Richard E. Grant). The four part drama will be named The Crimson Petal and the White, and will air early next year.
Anderson will also be seen in the British drama Any Human Heart with co-star Kim Cattrall. It is based on the book by William Boyd, about a fictional author. Anderson will play the Duchess of Windsor. Gillian Anderson is best known for her role as Dana Scully in The X-Files.
