AUG 23-26, 2012 Canada will be host to a massive Convention. It's so big, it has 3 names, so note - if you read these names online, it refers to ONE convention:
FAN EXPO CANADA; FAN EXPO TORONTO; FAN EXPO VANCOUVER

Included will be SciFi, Comics (graphic novels, not comedians), Horror, Anime & Games.

Thou still early, scheduled guests include:

- Gillian Anderson, being promoted as "Agent Scully" as science fiction fans may be unaware of the dramatic work she's done the past ten years. To date, her appearance is NOT XF3 related. *** See also The GA Forum: viewtopic.php?f=303&t=24#p58356 ***

- Patrick Stewart (Star Trek)
- Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter)
- Kevin Smith & Jay Mews (Jay & Silent Bob)

UPDATE re GA - her appearance now listed as "tentative..."

We print info as we find it. On the EXPO site:
"Gillian Anderson will be making a very rare appearance exclusively for Fan Expo Canada™ attendees! Don’t miss out on this rare X-Files appearance from your favourite Special Agent, Dana Scully....
*** (APPEARANCE TENTATIVE)" ***

So either someone with the Expo jumped the gun, or, who knows.... Our guess is, the Expo got massive inquires from their GA site announcement (she was the first guest featured) and realized they had a potential problem. FACT: ALL Expo / Con sites FREQUENTLY float names of desired guests to generate buzz. Convention DISCLAIMERS allow them to - paraphrased but: "talent's appearance is always subject to their availability."

Wise decision! OT but since it's "just us chickens" ... watch the GA News thread this weekend & early next week. It "appears" GA is headed for Russia on Sunday with the designer Alice Temperley for a photo call... If nothing else, GA is getting to do some interesting travel way ahead of the summer Cons.

OT - There are details in the GA NEWS thread.... Briefly, Temperley's Fall 2012 line has a lot of Russian influence, so we "think" she's going to Russia with GA for real Russian locales. OR they may be going for some Russian designer's party where "photos may be taken." No way to know...

We're already about as far from topic, as, say the US is to the old USSR... We now know British Airways wanted Gillian Anderson to appear in a print ad they're going to run to advertise a new "long haul" service from London to Russia. (Long haul to them is 4 hours...). Lots of details in GA News and photos in All About Gilly & HQ Photos. BTW GA was wearing Alice Temperley which, for the ad, just peeked out from a not-warm-enough coat. Visit the photos - this may be one strange looking ad, depending on how they crop it...

On point, GA is still listed as "tentative" for the Canadian Expo. There must be a FOX influence somewhere... less than forthcoming...

As for the Fan Expo Canada - GA is still listed as "tentative..." March is way too early to start announcing all but the "cast in stone" guests anyway.

Quick update...

No longer "tentative" on the Expo site; also NOT YET confirmed on GAWS.

Should GA not schlep across the Atlantic this summer to appear at this North American Con, the Expo will have some 'splaining to do... As well as some refunding.

After weeks of speculation we have this in from GAWS courtesy of GillyDreamer78... Check back for additional news about the other guests (from TWD, Dexter, ST etc) who will be in Toronto from Friday thru Sunday.

General Toronto info -Lots of XF boards / pages are alive tonight with GAWS' confirmation news; what I'm reading is different versions of this, from Canadians who know the area:

For anyone interested in going, who will need hotel accommodations, do NOT wait to reserve rooms as you may have a long(ish) commute to hotels that still have availability.

Typically, hotel rooms can be "cancelled" without penalty. So you may want to reserve this ASAP.

USE THIS THREAD if you are going and want to meet other fans there. Post your username, then PM other users who post. If you want to meet people but no one posts, PM me and I'll send you other links not handy now.

Golden Rule of Conventions...
.... ANY celebrity guest may cancel at ANY time.

The better (more established) US conventions offer refunds in many instances. The non US cons, not so much.

"Buyer beware" defo applies when purchasing tix. If someone only wants to see 1 guest at a con, it's generally recommended to pass, and catch them another year. Just in case...

I think that one should attend, even if s/he only wants to see one star; however, s/he simply needs to bear in mind what you said, that is, that any star can cancel at any time. If one is truly okay with that, then it's worth the risk. In my experience, I would say that most stars don't cancel, and if they do, they tend to have a legitimate, and thus, 'forgiveable' reason.

Okay, thanks for doing the research, Agent Skulder. Of course, I know about imdb.com, but thought that someone might know who Amanda Tapping is without having to look her up. I don't think that I recall a 'Carina' in "Avatar." Maybe she was one of the women who worked in that brothel place. I'll have to watch the episode again.
