Actually, this clue is extremely helpful. It practically gives the answer away. Think about it. How many female characters on, "The X Files" were having an affair? I can only think of three, which is really not that many, and one of them is the correct answer. If you can't think of any, then maybe you're not thinking hard enough!

I'm not remembering many. Teena Mulder is one character who committed adultery, as did the female demon-lady from "Terms of Endearment", didn't she? But neither of those seems to fit, I don't think, nor does the lady from "Chimaera" mentioned earlier. Hmmmm.....
