Sure.Fine.Whatever was said 3 times, I believe, Jerry Hardin appeared in 13 epis in total (if you mean epi he appeared in after death as well) and Glen Morgan & James Wong wrote 4 epis in the 4th season.

25 (very long series!) + 1 (I think) - 3: "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose," "Quagmire," and "War of the Coprophages." Were there any others? = 26-3 = 23

Gilly & LL - I counted 3 times that Mulder calls her Dana in the dot UK script -
http://www.insidethex.co.uk/transcrp/scrp112.htm
Does that match your total? (Mulder also refers to her as "Dana Scully" describing how she wants something to appear in a police report, but it was descriptive, he wasn't addressing her as Dana Scully.)

The lines about "Purple Rain" are spoken in "El Mundo Gira", which is the 11th episode of season 4, but the 84th episode overall (I'm not sure which out of these two numbers you had in mind) x 2 (?) + 99 = either 121 or 267

11 is correct for "El Mundo Gira." I meant the number of letters in the title! So, the Magic Number is 121. Your turn next, scully_hair. :)

Well - if we can do this in stages-
Part 1-
scully_hair, for Gilligan's eps, if number of eps written includes eps CO-written, would this be the correct number: 30?

Part 2- trick question? I think GA appeared in all 202 eps so that number is 0. Yes?

I'm running out of juice (battery) - working on part 3...

Now THESE are trivia questions!  I mean that in a good way.

Actually, Scully does not appear in "Zero Sum," in the 4th series.

Also, when I designed this game, I didn't intend for the trivia number questions to be so difficult. The problem is that if the questions are too difficult, nobody plays, and then the round sits unanswered for days, or even weeks! I personally would prefer that we stick to much easier questions, for example, "Scully's apartment number in "Beyond the Sea." The most research that would be required, if any research is required, would be watching an episode, which is always enjoyable :)

Thanks for clarifying, London Lady. I hadn't realized Zero Sum was a credit only for GA - so now we know that number is 1-not in; 201- in.

The research isn't that problematic; I'm guessing that very few players - yourself and scully_hair included - can answer questions without hitting the IMDb or WikiP for at least one number. This is just me, but I'd rather open a source than watch an ep for an answer.

Ok - let's see if the first "30" is OK; in the mean time I'll try to source the 3rd part and edit this post if I succeed.

EDIT: per http://www.df.lth.se/~ola/x-files/x-misc.html Scully first fired her gun in Ghost in the Machine, Episode 7.

How's this ... Courtesy LondonLady & Skulder Inc:

The no of eps Vince Gilligan wrote)* 30
x (the no of eps Scully did not appear in) 1
+ (the no of the ep where Scully uses her gun - 1st time) 7
[Ghost in the Machine]

30 x 1= 30 + 7= 37 ?

* assumes inclusion of eps Gilligan co-wrote

Scully was also absent from "Unusual Suspects," "Travellers," and "Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man," although we did hear her voice in that episode. Therefore, I think that there were a total of four episodes without Scully.

If there are indeed 4 episodes without Scully, then the Magic Number is 30 x 4 + 7 = 127. If this is correct, credit should go to Agent Skulder, because she answered the more difficult components.

New magic number puzzle currently looking for new Host  No applications necessary!

HOW TO Just create a new group of mini-trivia questions that involve numbers. You can use episode names or characters as your "trivia answer." The "number" for an alpha answer is just the total number of letters in the word. In the last puzzle, "Humug" = 6 as it contains 6 letters."
