What's the Connection?

Postby LondonLady » October 16th, 2010, 1:29 pm

What's the Connection?
- The Host posts the names of 2 or 3 episodes that have something specific in common - a connection.
- Categories of connections include: a common theme, a character, a location, or just about anything provided it is not too obscure (Man wears blue tie) or too prevalent (Man smokes at desk).
- The player who guesses the connection first wins, and then Hosts the next round by posting 2 or 3 new episodes that share a connection.
- If a player guesses something that applies, but that is not the connection the Host intended, the game continues until the correct connection is made.
- If no one has guessed the connection after 7 guesses, the Host wins, & can then post a new set of episodes or pass their turn to another player.
- The Host can also decide whether to provide clues if the game has stalled.

What's the Connection: "Darkness Falls" and "Detour"?
Answer: Both episodes were set in the forest.

The two episodes can be linked by a common theme, a character, a location, or just about anything. However, the connection shouldn't be too obscure, otherwise nobody will get it. For example, probably don't use two episodes being connected because Mulder wore a blue tie in each episode! LOL However, hopefully this game will be mentally challenging!

If no-one has guessed the connection after 7 guesses, the player who posed the puzzle wins. S/he can then go again, or pass his/her turn to someone else.

Okay, I'll go first:

What's the Connection: "Beyond the Sea" and "Sein und Zeit"?

Sounds like a fun game, LondonLady.
Is the connection seeing the image of a loved one that has passed on?

Thank you, sweetie. Your answer is a little more complicated than the actual answer. Simplify it, and you will be correct!

Can i guess? I think the connection is in loosing parents. In "Beyond the sea" Scully lost her father and in "Sein und zeit" Mulder lost his mother.

GD78 is not allowed to play! In the words of Maitreya: This is my game!

LOL, GD78, I'm only joking. Shall we reconcile? Your answer is the exactly correct one, although Gilly was very close. ;)

Yes, we can reconcile. I was waiting for you to say that, I noticed you haven't been playing games where I was in the lead for the last three days or so. Just to make something clear, I don't have anything against you here. I think we should forget about the whole thing (whatever this thing was)and keep playing these games for fun.
Okay, here is the next one:

Oh, so you you noticed. But as you said, let's just forgive and forget, and move on. [agree]
Let's have some fun! (said in the voice of the possessed doll in "Chinga," although I don't think I am possessed! LOL!)

Is the connection abduction? Scully was abducted in "Ascension" and Mulder was abducted in "Requiem."

There are actually two connections, and either one will do. However, someone identifying both connections would be great!

Hmmm...let's see if I can guess both connections! :?
1. Both epis were Scully centric. I mean in both episodes Scully went somewhere on her own, she was without Mulder.
2. In both episodes objects were sending some kind of messages. In "Never Again" it was the tattoo on Ed Jers's arm and in "Chinga" it was the doll.

The first connection is just about correct: both cases were solved by Scully alone.

I never even thought of your second connection! However, my second connection is different. I'll give you a big clue: Mulder did it in "Never Again" and Scully did the same thing in "Chinga." ;)

Re: What's the Connection?

The connection is Terry O'Quinn. He plays Lieutenant Brian Tillman in "Aubrey." He plays Darius Michaud in "The X Files: Fight the Future," and he plays the bad guy spying on Scully in "TrustNo1." Sorry, I don't know his name in that episode.

That was a good one, GD78!

However, I actually thought of this other connection first: a woman being separated from the man she loves. In "Aubrey," BJ can't be with the man with whom she's having an affair. In "The X Files: Fight the Future," Scully thinks that she has to transfer away from Mulder, and in "TrustNo1" Mulder and Scully are also separated. Actually, as I was thinking through this connection, in my head I called the character in "Aubrey" Darius Michaud! That's when I realised that he's in FTF and TrustNo1 as well. I love how the human brain makes connections!

Yes, LondonLady, Terry O'Quinn is the right answer. In Trust No 1 he plays the Shadow Man, the one that tells Scully, how on one lonely night she invited Mulder to her bed. ;)
Your connection is also very interesting, LondonLady. It's like in your previous one, there were not two connections but three of them. Anyway, it's your turn!
