Super Soldiers

With nearly every Syndicate member dead, the Colonists began to clear up any evidence of alien life and began to create human replacements called "Super Soldiers," on which the Colonists had been working covertly as an alternative slave race should the hybridization experiments be unsuccessful. To create Super Soldiers, the Colonists infect humans with a new strain of their virus, which slowly destroys and then rebuilds the body of the host. This process seems to involve a lengthy surgical procedure on abductees as opposed to simple infection (as with the black oil). As they have normal red blood and can replace individuals within powerful positions, they provide an ideal way for the Colonists to infiltrate humanity to ensure that the plans for colonization are uninterrupted. They are identifiable however by small spiny protrusions on the backs of their necks or by detailed analysis of a blood sample which shows their DNA exists as a complex with iron. Although they cannot shapeshift, Super Soldiers are practically unstoppable. They can survive being crushed by a garbage compactor, decapitation, and can rip through steel with their bare hands. The only known way to kill them takes advantage of their metallic biochemistry: their bodies are torn apart by the magnetic fields present near large deposits of magnetite ore. The Super Soldiers quietly fill the positions of power previously occupied by Syndicate members and rarely use human conspirators. By the end of the series they have virtually replaced the Syndicate and they have chased Fox Mulder and Dana Scully out of the FBI so that they can no longer investigate the X-Files and interfere with their plans. They are currently preparing for the final invasion in 2012.

Remember - the Syndicate was formed around the time of Roswell, during the mid to late 1940's (I'm going from memory folks so feel free to jump in if I'm off course....). They were the human liaisons, between the human government and the aliens. The syndicate arranged things in secret, that they could not trust the gov't to handle, such as trying to create human-alien hybrids. So that had been why they were important initially. Once the aliens realized they were no longer needed for alien colonization to begin, the syndicate members were all eliminated (killed) toward the end of the series.

But - it's questions like these, that explain why we can fill enormous amounts of time trying to answer them.

Wow...thank you GD78 for that definition of the Super Soldiers. Although I still think the story line with them was a little "dumb". Sorry, not my favorite part of the series.

I have been reading up on them and because Fox network wanted the show to continue and Chris Carter didnt, by the time it go around to signing up for 8,9 Gillian Anderson was on board only, so Doggett and reyes were created around her, in Mulder absensence also
The supersoldiers arc was introduced in an attempt to put to bed the mythology arc and bring in new fans, which does explain why they dont fit into the mytharc at all, so again its all down to the networks who screw up our favourite shows

That is indeed an excellent explanation about Super Soldiers. Thank you for posting it here, GD78.
"Those characters are forever searching...Even if we’re not watching them, they’re out there, in some dimension. Mulder and Scully are still doing their thing, ‘cause that’s their nature."
