I hope you have a fantastic birthday! I would just like to take this time to thank you for being a strong female role model. You really gave me something to look up to in the 90s while I was growing up. Not just the vigorous Agent Scully, but the tough as nails actress playing Scully. That's why I find myself still a die hard fan today. You don't take no for answer and you fight for what you believe in.

About two months ago I made a post in this forum talking about how I was influenced by something you wrote in the book “Girl Boss” and lots of members told me that I should´ve sent you what I´ve written. And I thought this would be a good opportunity to do so.


A few months ago I was having a hard time at work; everything seemed to go wrong (it had been for some time). I was working on a project where the PM basically rejected and criticized what I´ve been doing (for the previous 3 months) a few days before we had to present it, and I had to do all over again; anyways, the day before of my presentation to the bosses I found at this forum a post with an extract from the book “Girl Boss” and it totally changed my mood and attitude not only towards my job but also life in general.
I must have read it about ten times that night, but in the morning while I was waiting outside the conference room I was shaking like a leaf. So I grabbed my cell phone and read it again; I tried to think positive and as you wrote “I tried to visualize everything going well” and it did.

I don´t have much self- confidence but what you wrote made me feel strong at the right time, even though at the moment I thought I could lose my job. So now I have hanging at my office this paragraph:

“I believe from the bottom of my heart that there is nothing we as human beings, and especially we as women cannot tackle. It is not a matter of being fearless. The fear is sometimes constant but it’s about moving forward regardless of the fear. Courage means feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
Be courageous, believe in yourself, and be the best woman you can be. I’m with you all the way”

I´m sure that there are lots of people out there that, like me, were inspired by your words,(not only by this particular extract but by the things you´ve said and done throughout the years).
Thank you for being the way you are, for caring about your fans and for, in one way or another, changing people´s lives.You're definitely someone I look up to.
