This connection has been used before, but that's okay. ;-)
The connection is that both episodes feature a bank robbery.

Okay, since nobody is guessing this one at all, here is a big clue:

Both episodes occur before, "The X Files: Fight the Future"!

Okay, here is the real clue: both episodes feature a scene in the same type of place. ;)

Agent Skulder or SA88, do either of you know the answer? Would anyone else like to guess?

Both eps feature a prominent scene with Mulder in a bar...

This is the direction I thought SA88 was going in.

That's close enough, I suppose: both episodes feature an important scene in a nightclub.

Your turn, next, Agent Skulder.

Alrighty then; it's been too long... All I could recall was the actual bar, not the dancing.

New puzzle later this weekend... I'll aim for a crickets theme.

You're there, you just don't realize it... Both eps featured 'insects' (and Humbug featured a cricket I think, not a cockroach, getting eaten ... G'ross!)

Is the connection that both episodes feature people who came back from the dead? In "Shadows," Lauren Kyte's boss came back from the dead to seek vengeance, and in "Folie a Deux," the zombie nurse came back from the dead.

Oh, thank you, JC! However, I'm still trying to think of your connection! :)
Do both episodes feature Brian Markinson? I know that he plays Gary Lambert in, "Folie a Deux," and I know that he's in an episode in the first series as well, but I'm not sure whether he's in, "Shadows." I think that he might be in, "Born Again," actually.

Nah, that's not the one. Its like the main villains have a position in the workplace in common. And the main villain in Shadows really isn't the vengeful ghost. He's kind of badass.

People come back from the dead? The old guy in Hollywood AD though he may have faked his death (though the bowl does seem to bring folks back from the dead too; dancing skeletons). The invisible guy came back from the dead from his brother's wish.

Both hint at Mulder and Scully being romantically involved, which is new at that point. At the end of Je Souhaite, Mulder and Scully are drinking beers and watching a movie together like a date night. At the end of Hollywood AD, Scully reminds Mulder she have a credit card they can use for a night on the town. All I could think of.

Clue: The connection involves Mulder and Scully.
