Here goes.... Appx 20 minutes

4 + 35 = (39) x 2 = (78) - 6 = **72**

4..... The quarter of the (American football?) game that Luther Lee Boggs watched after killing his family on Thanksgiving (that is, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarter) +

35 - Scully's apartment number as shown in, "Beyond the Sea" x

2 - The number of times that we saw Luther Lee Boggs about to be executed -

BEYOND - 6 ... The number of letters in the first word of the title of the song played at Scully's father's funeral =

For the first component, do you mean 1,013, or all the numbers reduced to a single digit, that is,
1 + 0 + 1+ 3 = 5?

Just a reminder: the components need to be related to, "The X Files." St. Valentine's Day, while lovely and romantic, is not related to, "The X Files." ;)

I meant 1013 as one numeric...

And with all the goopy-sloppy-repetitive MSR around, and with St Vs Day looming, I'm taking poetic license and assuming at some point before IWTB those two either smooched or made like bunnies on at least one V Day....

The number in Carter's production company +

Mulder's apt number +

The DAY DATE in Valentines Day -

The NAME (number of letters in) of the Gyno Doctor (played by Landau) in FTF =

Answers: 1013, 42, 14, You didn't say to use his surname only, so I'm going to use his full name: Alvin Kurtsweil = 14

1013 + 42 + 14 - 14 = essentially, 1013 + 42 = 1,055.

The number of minutes that abductees tend to lose when they are abducted x ---> 9?

The number of letters in the title of the episode where the events were blamed on astrological phenomena + ---> 6 (sygyzy)?

Episode title, "S. R. __19" Missing number - 8!

The number of worms in the jar that killed each other in, "Ice" = 2!

Let me try the components first, before I calculate the sum:

8 Eves in total? I think that there was also a pop band called, "Eve 8," named after this episode.
Very cool!

Vampire episode sans Scully: "3"

3 Lone Gunmen, but if you include The Thinker, well, that makes 4 Lone Gunmen.

1013 :)

Hurrah!

Okay, here is the sum. I will use 3 for the Lone Gunmen question, since there were 3 main Lone Gunmen.

8 x 3 - 3 + 1,013 =

24 - 3 + 1,013 = 21 + 1,013 = 1,034

The Magic Number is 1,034. :)

OK --- I'm guessing a bit here... London Lady, I guess we're both going down the games list... ;)

Number of letters in the name of the first episode that featured Eugene Victor Tooms +  [SQUEEZE so 7]

If A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, etc, the number for the first letter of the title of the episode in which Queequeg was gobbled up by an alligator! x  [QUAGMIRE, Q is letter 17]

The number of people that Scully was allowed to have on her hit list in, "The List" - [Per Mulder, 5]

The total number of Scully siblings, including Dana Scully herself = [4]

Then... 7 + 17 x 5 - 4 = 116 ????

Sounds good....

If ANYONE "seasoned" or new (AbsoluteKnave, TuffSpot...) would like to pose a puzzle before I do, please do!

It's just 3-4 trivia questions where the answers are expressed as numbers, that we instruct users to add, subtract, or multiply. We stay away from division & standard deviation (or anything that might involve decimals or nausea...) And the math should be manageable without a calculator. Just enough to engage a few brain cells.
