Sorry for the long delay, everyone - or, at least, Agent Skulder and JoseChung.

No S's, but there are two C's:

__ E T E / C A __ C A __ __ __

Letters used so far: A, T, E, R, S, C

Two letters left to guess. ;)

I'm going to take a guess here since the first name could only be Pete. Only a few characters in the X-Files with that first name and only one with a Ca_ca___ surname.

Pete Calcagni. He was in Die Hand Die Verletzt (got to love that Mrs. Paddock) as the school psychologist who dismissed student problems when speaking with Agent Mulder. Possessed, he killed two of the other Satanists and himself, saving Mulder and Scully.

I'll branch out into more games. Which would you recommend?

As to the next puzzle, I'm thinking of a character name:

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _ _

This one's going to be pretty easy. Next time around I'll pick something more like SWAT team member number 4. ;-)

OK... (cracks knuckles)... Is our friend Mr E among the letters?

As for other games in progress, try this - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2122&start=0
"You what, mate?"

It looks agonizing but it's fun and deceptively simple. Each question results in a word or part of a word, which in this puzzle is part of a quote... I'll try to bring "where we left off" up to the "top" - see what you think.

Because London Lady listed so many questions, a couple of us were just taking a handle of questions each, to leave questions for others to join in. The middle of summer everything slows down, and this year is no exception... :sun

I'm always glad to get the E's out of the way... :)

To make your "Hangman" life easy, a good "trick" for this game is to keep copying & pasting your basic "format" from one post to the next. The basic format should look like this, with correct and / or "used" letters filled in:

A character (as posts and comments accumulate, new players don't have to search to see what the category is if we supply it)

Letters used: E

_ _ _ _ _ _ E / _ _ _ E _ _ _

S _ S A _ _ E / _ _ _ E S _ _

What is it 6 guesses max? So 6 letter guesses and then you can only guess the name or what?

Jose -  Most games rules appear in the first, or oldest post of each game... :) Here's a recap and my guess at the end:

For Hangman, there are 8 guesses. In rare cases, like a very long quote it is up to the Games Host if they want to extend the guesses to 10 or an even dozen.

So 6 letter guesses and then you can only guess the name or what?

Once the total guesses are used, players (even one who never guessed letters) try to guess the answer. Each host decides how many solution guesses they'll allow. Sometimes the host says "You have till X-day to guess..."

If no one guesses correctly, the host "wins" & can pass that turn to a specific player, or anyone who wants it, or, they create a new puzzle themselves.

Exception: some players (... me) guess words as they go along. Single word or even complete solve "guesses" do NOT count as 1 of the 8 letter guesses. If a player guesses the word "deed," and that's confirmed, the host does NOT automatically fill in any other d's or e's. That's why it's not counted as a guess.

Are there any N's?
(... And now there are 2 guesses left.)

Plenty of guesses left then and a lot to my discretion. Well N clears it up a lot though so full name guesses will probably follow shortly.

Letters used so far: E, R, A, T, S, and N.

S _ S A N N E / _ _ _ E S _ _

Two letters left.

Surely now the answer is obvious! I love saying that! LOL :)

Another excellent choice. Two B's, and they fit into crucial places:

B L A __ __ / __ A __ L B __ __

Letters used so far: T, A, S, R, E, L, B

Only one letter left to guess, but I really think that someone will guess the answer before then. :)

All the letters have now been used. I'll now give everyone 30 seconds to solve the puzzle! Not really! I'll give everyone until tomorrow evening. I think that one of you will solve the puzzle by then. ;)
