LAX-Files
Behind the Scenes with the Los Angeles Cast and Crew
Authored by Erica Fraga

Since its inception in 1993, The X-Files has opened up our minds to government conspiracies, alien life, and unexplained phenomena. Nine seasons and two feature films later, The X-Files is still considered one of the most iconic television shows of the 20th century.

Join over 40 Los Angeles fans, cast, and crew members, including Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, R.W. Goodwin, and Laurie Holden, as they share their behind the scenes memories - some never before told - of working on The X-Files: Fight the Future and Seasons 6 - 9.

Interested in visiting actual filming locations used for the series?

LAX-Files details the most popular Southern California X-Files locations, including William's birth place, the mansion from How the Ghosts Stole Christmas, and the Federal Building from Fight the Future.

This is a fan made book dedicated to the memory of the late and great television director, Kim Manners.

Kim is known for his prolific and emotionally captivating work on Booker, 21 Jump St., Brisco County Jr, Simon and Simon, The X-Files, and Supernatural.

All of the books profits will go to the American Cancer Society, the charity of the Manner's Family choosing.

Here is our interview with Erica Fraga

LAX-Files Includes Never Before Told Stories

The wait for LAX-Files is finally at an end! After 26 months of work by author Erica Fraga, the book is published and ready for purchase.

Fraga told XFilesUniverse.com, ”The book is filled with fantastic behind the scenes stories; some of them have never been heard before. Laurie Holden told me a story about kissing Nic Lea; Tom Braidwood talked about Gillian in a locked car; Mitch Pileggi had a great story about the bathtub scene from Hollywood A.D. You’ll have to buy the book for the juicy details!”

The creation of the book was far from easy. ”My friends and I were almost attacked by a dog on a location hunt for Alpha,” Fraga reminisces. “Trying to find Karen’s House was an adventure for my companions and I. After driving through the winding roads of Calabasas, we arrived at a dead end street in a heavily wooded residential area. At first, we could not find Karen’s house. We had a general idea of where it was after reviewing the DVD’s and we knew the street it was on. After several passes – and inquisitive stares from the locals – we found the house, tucked away down a private road. Taking the correct action, we decided not to trespass and began making dinner plans. Luckily we stayed in the car because at that very moment, a neighbor’s dog – a very angry neighbor’s dog – ran out of the neighbor’s yard and tried to jump into my half open window.”

A few teasers are offered by Fraga. One comes from David Duchovny, “”Gillian is not an athlete, so it wasn’t like I could play one on one with her.” Another is from a crew member during season six of the series. “The crew was shooting in Palmdale or Lancaster for Dreamland and the entire crew witnessed a UFO streaming across the sky about 100 feet above the ground, 50 feet from the crew, travelling horizontally, and then disappeared. They never found out if it was real or just the Special Effects Department just proving how good …they really are.”

Another is from Dean Haglund, commenting on The Lone Gunmen, ““You know that friend you have, who can always fix your computer, and wire up your home theater, but is a little odd and always calls to see what you are doing, but you are always ‘busy’ or just heading out. And you never tell him to stop calling because you know one day you are going to update to Blu-ray and will nee…d him to come over and hook it up, so you just put up with it? Yeah… we’re that guy.”

This is a fan-made book dedicated to the memory of the late and great television director, Kim Manners. Kim is known for his prolific and emotionally captivating work on Booker, 21 Jump St., Brisco County Jr, Simon and Simon, The X-Files, and Supernatural. All of the books profits will go to the American Cancer Society, the charity of the Manner’s Family choosing.

Fans can purchase the book on Createspace.com or Amazon.com. If you are in California, please consider ordering from Createspaces.com instead of Amazon, as the “cut” is smaller and therefore more money can go to the American Cancer Society.

I read through it yesterday and just wrote a review on the blog. So as not to take up too much room, here's an excerpt:

"I should preface this by saying that I’m not usually one for crew anecdotes, blooper reels, or anything in reality that might potentially interfere with the “reality” of the show. Did so and so hate filming that episode? I don’t want to know. Was there a fight? La la la! I can’t hear you! But LAX-Files is an exception to my rule.

This book is a labor of love dedicated to the memory of the late, great Kim Manners, a director without whom The X-Files probably wouldn’t be as iconic as it is today. Erica Fraga has compiled a loving assortment of memories, related by cast, crew and fan alike, chronicling the Los Angeles era of the show. Sadly, 20th Century Fox nixed the use of many of the private photographs that had been donated to the project, so Kim Manners isn’t featured as prominently as originally intended. Still, it’s a great compilation and all proceeds from the book are going to The American Cancer Society at the request of the family of Kim Manners. I can’t think of a better tribute."

Fox prevented the use of almost all the personal photos donated by the cast, crew, and Kim Manners' family. Copyright issues. :x
